The Australian team have been dominant so far in their campaign. While it’s hard to know exactly what level they are playing at because of the quality of opposition faced, they are doing everything they need to do.

The Diamonds have picked up three thumping wins to start the Games. They hammered Northern Ireland 94-26, then beat Barbados 79-24, before being challenged a little more by South Africa last night, eventually running out 60-38 winners.

The 22-point victory for the Diamonds was the first time they have even been close to challenged throughout the tournament, but they handled it well and will take the confidence of that forward into the final stages of the tournament.

One point which could come into play this afternoon is their short turnaround – the game against the rainbow nation only finished at 10pm last night, giving them less than 18 hours from finish of one game to start of the next.

Fiji, on the other hand, had a rest day yesterday and should be refreshed for this game against the world’s best team.

That’s where the advantages start and end for the Pacific Island nation though. They lost to Barbados in their second game, who have already been thrashed by Australia. Fiji were awful in the 21-goal loss and weren’t any better in their opening match as they went down to Jamaica by 58 goals in an 88-30 thumping.

Fiji have improvement in them, but they haven’t shown anything of substance this tournament to suggest they may be able to compete with the Diamonds.

Prediction
Australia should and probably will win this one, but maybe not quite as dominantly as the first pair of games – more like last night instead given the short turnaround. After Malawai’s upset over New Zealand last night, anything is possible, but the Diamonds will lock their semi-final spot up.

Australia by 25 goals.
