Geelong will be disappointed losing to the West Coast Eagles last week, despite travelling to Western Australia. What didn’t help was the injuries inflicted on some key players throughout the game, the most notable being Gary Ablett.

There’s no denying there is some pressure on Chris Scott’s side going into this clash having only one win next to their name, and especially when one considers the talent they have through the middle.

In team news for the Cats, there are a few outs. Nakia Cockatoo, Cam Guthrie and James Parsons join Ablett this week on the sideline.

Mitch Duncan, Rhys Stanley, Jordan Murdoch and Jordan Cunico are the four replacements.

As for St Kilda, Alan Richardson has some work to do to get this side anywhere near what is expected of them this season.

They showed glimpses against the Adelaide Crows of what they can do, but ultimately, it wasn’t enough. They weren’t great in their round one win against the Brisbane Lions, and were touched up by the North Melbourne Kangaroos on Good Friday.

They don’t look a team that will be challenging the competition leaders anytime soon. It will be another year of developing a brand of footy that will stack up in finals and developing youngsters if the first three rounds are anything to go by.

It would be great to see Paddy McCartin find some form this season and get a run of games. There’s no denying there is talent, but we are yet to see it for well documented reasons.

He really could be the shining light for the Saints this season if he can get going.

In team news for the Saints, David Armitage, Josh Bruce, Nathan Wright and Jimmy Webster come out of the side.

Sam Gilbert, Tom Hickey, Jack Steele and Jack Lonie are the four inclusions.

Prediction
Despite Geelong having some key players missing, they rarely lose in Geelong, and that will be the case here.

The Cats by 31.
