Cricket Australia has formally confirmed fixtures for the 2018-19 summer of cricket with Australia’s mens team to host South Africa, India and Sri Lanka, and the women’s team to host New Zealand.
Dates and venues have been locked in for every match but the vast majority of matches do not yet have a starting time. The Test at Adelaide Oval is likely to be a day-night match.
South Africa will make a limited-overs tour of Australia playing a handful of ODIs and a single T20, the highlight of which will be the first international cricket match ever played on the Gold Coast.

This will be followed by an Indian tour of Australia which will feature all three formats of the game, starting with T20s before a four-match Test series followed by some ODIs.

Finally, Australia will host Sri Lanka for two Tests, the first of which will be played over Australia Day (beginning two days beforehand) and the second will be the first international Test ever played in Canberra.

Meanwhile Australia’s womens side will play a three-match T20 series in 2018 and a three-match ODI series in 2019 both versus New Zealand.

“We’re very pleased to announce yet another exciting summer of international cricket, with four highly-regarded nations in New Zealand, South Africa, India and Sri Lanka touring Australia,” said cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland.
“It’s a summer which will contain plenty of high-quality cricket, and some exciting new additions to the Australian cricket calendar. Overall, there are more International matches being played across more locations around the country than in previous years, and we believe this program has something for all cricket fans.
“Australian cricket fans will have access to more cricket coverage than ever following the landmark broadcast partnership with Fox Sports and Seven West Media.
“Men’s International Cricket will take a new shape, with Seven and Fox Sports broadcasting all Test Matches throughout the summer. Fox Sports will also broadcast Men’s Gillette One-Day and T20 Internationals, with further digital options currently being explored.
“All Commonwealth Bank Women’s International matches will also be broadcast on Seven and Fox Sports. And the Prime Minister’s XI and Governor-General’s XI will also be broadcast on Fox Sports, the latter for the first time.
“Canberra will host its maiden Test match, between Australia and Sri Lanka, and we look forward to giving cricket fans in the nation’s capital the opportunity to see elite Test cricket for the first time.
“We’re also thrilled to be taking international cricket to the Gold Coast for the first time, with Australia taking on South Africa in a Gillette T20 International.
“Cricket continues to look beyond its traditional boundaries by taking our game to new and exciting venues and locations.
“We welcome the chance to showcase international cricket on the Gold Coast and Canberra this summer and to provide even more fans with the opportunity to experience these matches in person.”
“Cricket has worked very closely with key partners in these regions to get to this point and looks forward to further developing our ties in the future.
“The Gabba will host Sri Lanka in a day-night Test over the Australia Day weekend, and Perth Stadium will host Test cricket for the first time.
“The Border-Gavaskar Trophy promises to be a bumper series, and it will be headlined by the world-famous Boxing Day Test at the MCG. There, we will also deliver a large-scale community festival in partnership with the Victorian Government, which will be a terrific celebration of Indian culture.
“It is our preference that we play India in a Day-Night Test match in Adelaide, but we are still working through this detail and hope to have an answer on this in the coming weeks.
“This season also promises to be a big summer for our Australia Women’s team, which will open the international summer ahead of its ICC Women’s World Twenty20 campaign in the West Indies in November. They are currently ranked number one in the world and will be looking to defend this title over the summer against New Zealand.
“Building on the success and huge public interest around the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes last season, it is great to have our national team playing Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in six matches, all at different venues meaning the team will be accessible to fans right across the country.
“Our men’s international season structure changes slightly this summer, with Gillette One-Day and T20 International matches against South Africa and India in November. This will be a win for fans, with reduced overlap with the Big Bash.”
