The Warrnambool Carnival continues on Wednesday where the features are the Wangoom and Galleywood Hurdle. Here are my five suggested plays across the program.

Bet One – Each-Way – Race Three Number 5 Fanciful Toff
I think he is the clear overs here at $8+. Toorak Toff trained gelding who debuted on the bog on Terang Cup Day where he got a mile out of his ground but you had to like the way he finished off the race when fourth to Lucky For All. Expecting that form to stack up, clearly has upside and out to 1700m is ideal.

Bet Two – Win – Race Four Number 8 Bold Bandit
Tricky race, but he has the upside and I’ll lean his way. Patrick Ryan trains this gelding, who made his Australian debut in a Highweight at Hamilton where he was given a sweet ride just off the pace and once he got clear running, he finished best and proved far too good. Jumps trial here last week was very good and should take some beating. Should take some beating against this lot.

Bet Three – Win – Race Six Number 1 Ancient King
He’s the top pick in betting for the Galleywood and I think he can get the job done. He has been going okay on the flat but not quite well enough to feature prominently and he showed last season he is a potential star of jumps racing. Would need a bottomless track to get his chance, but if not, he’s still a definite threat. $2.50 is acceptable.

Bet Four – Each-Way – Race Eight Number 8 Demonstrate
I think he’s the best each way play on Wednesday. Two wins on the bounce for the stable before going to the VOBIS Sprint at Caulfield when charging home from the back to run fifth to Rich Charm. That reads so well for a race like this, he handles a track with give in it, he draws well and Williams remains on. Can only see a good run from him.

Bet Five – Win – Race Nine Number 3 Lucky For All
Looks the good thing for the Carnival. Very promising gelding for Darren Weir who made his Australian debut on Terang Cup Day over 1400m where he was heavily backed and the punters got it spot on as he produced a brilliant finishing burst to win impressively. He looks perfectly placed to beat these and black figures, I’ll be chips in.
