Liverpool into Champions League final despite Roma loss

By News / Wire

Liverpool have advanced to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final on 26 May.

Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 4-2 at Roma in the second leg on Wednesday but won the semi-final 7-6 on aggregate.

The Reds scored two early goals and that was all they needed to advance 7-6 on aggregate after a 5-2 win in the first leg.

Sadio Mane took advantage of a misplaced Roma pass to put Liverpool ahead nine minutes in and Georginio Wijnaldum restored the advantage with a header after a James Milner own goal for Roma.

Edin Dzeko equalised for the Italians early in the second half and Radja Nainggolan scored two late goals for the hosts as the Giallorossi narrowly missed out on another miracle after their stunning 3-0 second-leg victory over Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

So glad to be a Liverpool supporter amazing feeling. Incredible to see what Jurgen Klopp has been able to achieve alongside higher spending teams.
