The Brisbane Lions will be hunting for their first win when they host the Collingwood Magpies at the Gabba on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 4:40pm AEST.

The Lions fell 34 points short of the GWS Giants last Saturday. Brisbane were inaccurate and only managed five goals for the match, kicking thirteen behinds.

Collingwood are also coming off a loss, falling to Richmond in a fourth-quarter fade out last Sunday. The toll of a very short break following their ANZAC Day clash showed, but the intensity was high early for the surprise team of 2018.

The last time these the Lions and Magpies met was in round 10 last year, Collingwood won by 45 points.

Brisbane’s selection this week is headlined by the inclusion of Matt Eagles, the winner of Fox Footy’s ‘The Recruit’ reality program. He will start on the interchange and is expected to play in the backline.

Luke Hodge will return after being rested last week, while Nick Robertson is out through suspension and Ryan Lester has been omitted.

There are four changes to Collingwood’s line up this week: Travis Varcoe, Darcy Moore, Ben Crocker and Taylor Adams will come into the side.

They will cover Brayden Maynard (ankle), James Aish (knee) and Ben Reid (achilles) who are all out injured, as well as the omission of Callum Brown.

Tom Cutler will play his 50th AFL game for the Lions, while Darcy Moore will reach the same milestone for the Magpies.

Prediction
Brisbane are desperate for a victory, they’ve been close without success in recent weeks, but Collingwood have had a rejuvenating seven-day break and are out to put themselves back on the winners list.

The return of Darcy Moore and Taylor Adams from injury only boost the Magpies team, who will be far too strong for Brisbane.

Collingwood by 29.
