Was it all one-way traffic in the FA Cup final? Let’s rate each player from the match to find out.

Chelsea

Thibaut Courtois – 7
Made lots of saves, although some of them weren’t particularly difficult. Kept a clean sheet, and a goalkeeper can do no more than that, especially if they have had 18 shots to defend.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
He was composed in the defence and kept the Manchester United attack under wraps and offered a little in attack as well.

Gary Cahill – 6.5
The captain played well and organised the defence.

Antonio Rudiger – 8
Looked totally content in the defence, made the right decisions, cleared the ball and dealt with everything that went in his direction. He should be the man of the match.

Victor Moses – 4
He gave away lots of fouls in dangerous positions on the left wing and couldn’t contain Ashley Young at all.

Cesc Fabregas – 6
He’s the most difficult one to rate. One minute he was dominant, and the other he was non-existent. A bad decision nearly cost a Manchester United goal.

N’golo Kante – 6
You didn’t hear his name often but did his job in midfield and made some vital interceptions.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 7
He was probably the best of the central midfielders. He linked up well with teammates, showed aggression and even went on some runs.

Marcos Alonso – 5
He went too high up on the pitch and his attacking wasn’t very effective. He should have made it 2-0.

Eden Hazard – 8
Give him an inch and he’ll take a mile. He won the penalty and coolly slotted it in. He was a menace when he got the ball.

Olivier Giroud – 5
This just wasn’t his night. He worked hard but was often caught offside. Nobody put in the correct pass for him. He couldn’t create too many opportunities.

Manchester United

David De Gea – 6.5
He passed every goalkeeping test apart from the ‘patience test’. He dived too early for the penalty but dealt with everything else that came his way.

Antonio Valencia – 6
He as relatively quiet in attack but later in the game he put some inviting crosses in.

Phil Jones – 3
He conceded a penalty and his passing was slightly off. He should have kept up with Hazard in the leadup to the penalty.

Chris Smalling – 6.5
He kept Olivier Giroud relatively quiet and won most of the aerial duels.

Ashley Young – 6.5
He worked very hard down the left flank and won free kicks in dangerous positions, but his crosses were inaccurate at times.

Paul Pogba – 5
He gave away a few fouls early and had a long ranged shot filled with venom in around the 30th minute. He would have buried the header 99 times out of 100.

Ander Hererra – 4.5
Eden Hazard was a menace to him, and he should have marked him more closely. He didn’t offer anything in the offence either.

Nemanja Matic – 6
He was creative in midfield, as usual, but couldn’t link up with teammates.

Alexis Sanchez – 5.5
Lots of decisions didn’t go his way, but he worked very hard.

Marcus Rashford – 3
There’s a song called We’ve got Rashford. Watching him play, my reaction is, “Kick him out of the England World Cup 2018 Squad”. He was poor, made bad decisions, was out of position and couldn’t bury opportunities

Jesse Lingard – 5
He hardly touched the ball and the only notable thing he did was argue with the referee. He did set up one opportunity.
