The entire world is aware of phenomenon of Lynn-sanity. It’s very rare that a batsman who isn’t on international radar still being viewed and admired universally as Chris Lynn.

It’s perhaps his exploits in IPL last year than his BBL strike rate of 158. His exploits in the IPL made KKR entrust him by retaining him in the auctions for this season.

Perhaps he hasn’t been the same like last season but has found a new grind out approach to get some runs. Perhaps his shoulder injuries have lot to say in that.

It seems Lynn has remodelled his game and there has been a significant drop in his strike rate (131.91 in this season of the Indian Premier League, compared to 146 for his entire career).

When it comes to playing spin, we know Lynn is not the best batsman. In his innings against Delhi Daredevils, Lynn got out bowled against the part-time off-spin of Glenn Maxwell, playing a cross-batted shot.

But against RCB, he seemed determined to make an impact with bat.

The Chinnaswamy track had a fair amount of turn and RCB had wrist-spinners, who were getting good purchase off that surface. To tackle that, Lynn just kept on sweeping. Ball after ball, over after over, he played the same shot against the RCB leggies.

At times, he seemed to have no idea of which way the ball would spin, but he persisted. He missed often, but almost every one of his runs against spin (23 to be exact) came with the sweep.

Somehow his approach seems to be paying off as Lynn so far managed to score 443 runs in 15 innings.

Lynn forms one of the most potent opening duos in the tournament alongside Sunil Narine, with either possessing the ability to score quickly and set a platform for the dangerous Kolkata middle order. This season Narine has done the bulk of the job for them in opening slot.

With Narine going crazy, Lynn needs to give up the strike and bat through the innings.

The injury perhaps been blessing in disguise for Lynn as he had to find a way to score runs and his new grind-like approach helps.

A fully fit Chris Lynn will be a boon for Australia considering Australia will be missing the duo of Steven Smith and David Warner for most of the year. Lynn can come in easily in their spot.

But more importantly he needs to get fit for the gruelling schedule of international cricket. The sign are encouraging and with Lynn-sanity in full flow very few teams can stop Australia.
