The Greater Western Sydney Giants venture to Adelaide Oval to play the Adelaide Crows, which hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the away side. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match 4:40pm (AEST).
Adelaide had a disappointing day in Alice Springs last Sunday, losing by a humiliating 91 points to the Melbourne Demons.
Meanwhile, in Sydney on Saturday night, GWS went down by 35 points to Essendon – their fourth loss in a row.
The Crows have made two changes, young players Jordan Gallucci and Myles Poholke omitted to make way for Paul Seedsman and Lachlan Murphy. Seedsman was a late out against the Demons, with an adductor complaint, but trained during the week and will play in this clash.
The Giants have included debutant Sam Taylor in their backline, along with Sam Reid and co-captain Phil Davis.
Dylan Buckley and Matt Buntine were omitted from the squad, while Tim Mohr will miss with injury.
These two last met in the first qualifying final in 2017, where the Crows comfortably took home a six-goal win on their way to the grand final.
Adelaide’s Indigenous guernsey, worn today, was designed by Wayne Milera’s uncle, Roger Rigney. It depicts Adelaide Oval and the club’s 23 past and present Indigenous players, and their communities, with an overarching theme of ‘bringing people together’.
Northern Territory-born artist Nathan Patterson designed the Giants’ jumper for the 2018 Sir Doug Nicholls Round. Entitled ‘Learning together, Growing Together, Walking Together’, the design includes the four community pillars, represented by the four ‘U’ shapes around the central meeting place.
Prediction
While GWS will be competitive, the Crows at home will be too good.
