South Korea will be just one of a host of nations hoping for a better result when they touchdown in Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This is The Roar‘s guide to the nation’s fixtures, potential opponents, Australian kick-off times and how to watch their matches online or on TV.

After bowing out in the group stage after some poor performances last time out in Brazil, this time the South Koreans take on Sweden, Mexico and Germany in what will be an extremely tricky group.

South Korea’s World Cup group matches

Game No. Group Date Time Match Venue Broadcast
12 F Mon 18 Jun 10:00 PM Sweden vs South Korea Nizhy Novgorod Stadium Optus
28 F Sun 24 Jun 1:00 AM South Korea vs Mexico Rostov Arena Optus
42 F Thu 28 Jun 12:00 AM South Korea vs Germany Kazan Arena Optus

Drawn in Group F, things won’t be easy in the slightest for the Koreans.

They will more than likely need to produce at least a win and a draw, but potentially two wins out of their first two games, given they are slated to play the world’s top-ranked side, Germany, in their final group game.

The first two games against Sweden and Mexico, while tricky, should be winnable for the Asian outfit, who finished as runners-up to Australia in the last Asian Cup.

If they are to make it out of their group, it would be anticipated they finish runners-up of Group F, leaving them to face the winner of Group E, likely Brazil.

Should that match eventuate, it should be the end of the Russia 2018 road for South Korea. If they can somehow pull off an upset against either Germany or Brazil in the group or knockout stage respectively, further progression in the tournament may await, but on paper it would appear as if the Round of 16 is both the minimum and maximum expectation for the nation.
