It's Stradbroke time (AAP Image/Dan Peled).

The biggest race day on the Queensland racing calendar is Stradbroke Day and it comes around this Saturday, with an eight-race program, three majors, including the Stradbroke Handicap (1350m). Here are my five plays across the program.

Bet One – Each Way – Race One Number 2 Savanna Amou
At $8+, I think she’s a great each way gamble. Resumed three weeks back in the Chief De Beers where she was run off her legs by Spurcraft, who ran along at a brutal speed but worked home well late to run a close up sixth.

Tick over trial last week was very good and up to 1200m…she has the class to beat these. Wouldn’t be surprised if she firmed.

Bet Two – Each Way – Race Five Number 17 Danon Liberty
Hoping big time he gains a run because I’ve got a ticket each way on him at $26. I reckon if he’s anywhere near right and has flown up and handled it well, he’s the one to beat.

His Japanese form reads so well for this and from all reports, since his hiccup at Canterbury in quarantine, he has settled in beautifully and that looks to be the case if the Werribee trial is any guide. It was first class.

Bet Three – Each Way – Race Six Number 2 Zousain
The Autumn Sun is on top for me, but I cannot get him that short, so the bet for me is Zousain each way.

He just jumped too brilliantly in the Sires and was left in front, which isn’t his go at all and in the end that probably cost him when second to Lean Mean Machine.

Confident he turns the tables there… not sure he has the brilliance to beat The Autumn Sun.

Bet Four – Win – Race Seven Number 7 Live And Free
Tricky Derby to sort out, but there is plenty to like about this horse. A stayer that relaxes, handles all conditions and has a turn of foot. It’s an ideal recipe for success.

His Randwick win a fortnight back was dominant with a touch of arrogance, aided by a peach of a steer from Avdulla. He should have no issue with 2200m and has that sense of timing.

Bet Five – Each Way – Race Eight Number 16 Savatiano
I think she should be shorter than what she is, perhaps nearly favourite.

Yep, she fell in to win first up during the Scone Carnival but the win at Randwick a fortnight back was unbelievable.

Yep, she got things to suit in front but she showed an electric turn of foot and won like a good horse.

Big test here, but I think she can measure up.

      Good work Adam.

The Strabroke has had a deteriorating track over the last few days, best it could be now is a soft 7.

Impending with 57.5 on a very soft track pushes his price out from a $5.50 chance to a $7.50 rating. Such a good horse though could still win it.

Santa Ana Lane likes bigs tracks, working from back, but in form, but only flukers for mine. $20 rating.

Crack me up is first up, that for mine in these conditions, gives him a much better chance, and likely to enjoy a nice run here. Maps nicely for mine. $9 rating

Most Important will like the Hcp conditions here, but soft track not his best surface. Can race handy so in the flukers chances. $20 rating.

Champagne Cuddles, in good form with light weight. There her good points… this soft track should race more like a 1400 metre distance. A negative for mine, plus, will race on fence, which may not be ideal. Had her marked a $4.50 chance on a Good 4 early Thurs morning. Cannot have that now. $6.00 rating.

      Good luck punters.
