Outside NSW, there is pretty good racing across Australia this Saturday with a stack of meetings assembled. Here are my five plays across the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Bendigo Race Seven Number 4 Choisborder
Chips in on this bloke at the $2.60 on offer. I think he’s a clear odds-on pop. Yep, let me down last time, but was beaten by what I think is a Saturday class horse in Order Of Command.

Run prior behind Miss Leonidas was a beauty and yeah…look what she did at Moonee Valley. D-Day, but he has the right form, and the market threat, Auguster Rush, the form out of his debut win has been terrible.

Bet Two – Win – Sunshine Coast Race Three Number 1 Checkmate Lad
Short enough at even money, but he looks a good thing. Really good run last time out over the Ipswich 1350m when not really handling the track but once balanced up, he charged to just miss. Home track a big tick and drawn out so he should get clear running which does suit this big, gross type. Should be winning.

Bet Three – Win – Sunshine Coast Race Nine Number 2 Mewstone Rock
She’s more dynamic on a bog, but I think even with the firmer surface, she’ll take some beating. She absolutely walked in last Sunday and despite it being heavy, she clocked some very good late splits. 1600m looks no issue for mine…slight niggle about the firmer ground but happy to be in her corner.

Bet Four – Win – Naracoorte Race Four Number 1 John’s Strategy
Should be winning this. Thought his run on Monday over 900m at Murray Bridge was full of merit, doing all the work on speed and being on the inner section of the track, which was quicksand. Back to this level and up in trip are big ticks and with the 4kg claim, he looks extremely hard to hold out against this lot.

Bet Five – Each Way – Devonport Race Four Number 1 Cuban Missile
Why is this gelding $8.50+? The Devinport Synthetic is a different beast to Pakenham and Geelong but he has a very good record here and superior form from Victoria. Wide no cover last time out at Pakenham and tired late behind Evolutionist. I think he gets on speed quite comfortably here and with leading hoop Siggy Carr on, I think he’ll run a huge race at the odds available.
