Some really solid programs across Australia this Thursday, with nice types engaged across the four meetings. Here are my five plays across the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Ballina Race Two Number 3 Pipe Dream Lass
Don’t think we will get much of a price, but she should be winning despite taking on the older horses. Debuted back in February at Lismore where she was on speed and tried hard when second to I’m Rosie, who looks a nice type from the Gold Coast.

Two trials to prepare, she looks wound up to win fresh.

Bet Two – Each Way- Ballina Race Nine Number 3 Star Fest
Not sure Ballina is his track, but gee Brett Bellamy has this horse going well. Ran over 2000m last Thursday at Coffs Harbour where he got a mile back in the run and was never really likely but his finale was excellent behind the well-backed Collaboration.

Prefer him on a bigger track, but is racing too well and at $10, he’ll do me each way.

Bet Three – Win – Canberra Race Seven Number 2 Stephen
He’s rising 4.5kg in weight, which is the worry, but I’m a huge fan of sustained speed and he has that. Off the map when racing at the track/distance last time and he bolted up under Aaron Sweeney, who remains on.

Think he’ll lead again for fun and if he can overcome the weight rise, he should be too good, and I’m happy with $3.

Bet Four – Win – Rockhampton Race Three Number 4 Legal Ties
Looks a two horse race between this bloke and Mishani Valentino. Leaning towards the local. Resumed over 1100m here where he was a hard odds on pop and despite copping a bit of heat on speed, he looked to be bolting but was grabbed late.

Should improve with the run under the belt, and he’ll be a better chaser.

Bet Five – Win – Geelong Race Ten Number 5 Grand Crown
I think $6 is more than acceptable for a horse who looks to have come back in really good order. Great first up win at Kilmore before going to Ballarat where he got back and held up in a luckless run. Should have finished closer but I doubt he would have picked up Sam Slick, who was dominant.

Third up at the 1700m, draws the right part of the track, he should take some beating.
