The final major of the season, the Tatts Tiara (1350m), highlights a fab card of racing at Doomben this Saturday. Here are my five plays for the meeting.

Bet One – Each Way – Race Three Number 6 Man Around Town
Battle Of The Bush with next to no TAB form/replays, so a real unknown, but this bloke is a ten-time winner. He ran in the Atherton Qualifier of this series three weeks ago and he got the job done.

Can’t say how he did it but I can say on times, of the three 1200m races that afternoon, he ran just over three lengths quicker than the other two. Four of his wins have come at TAB meetings and his 1200m record is great. Hoping we can get better than $6.50.

Bet Two – Each Way – Race Five Number 8 Sacred Rebel
Tony Pike trains this quality looking gelding, who made his Australian debut on a bog at the Sunny Coast over 1200m where he chased a hot speed and I thought he did a really good job to get the win because the leader was hard fit and well backed.

1350m looks ideal and should have natural upside. The gap between him and the stablemate is far too great.

Bet Three – Each Way – Race Seven Number 3 Grande Rosso
Firmer footing, so I think this bloke is a great each way gamble. Two runs for the Snowden camp, the latest coming three weeks back at Rosehill when close up with the big weight behind Sir Bacchus. Third up at the mile, with weight relief, gee I think he’ll run well.

Bet Four – Each Way – Race Eight Number 3 Daysee Doom
I’m stunned she is $15+. She’s the best horse in this race by a mile and if she overcomes the wide gate, I think she wins. Had a four-run Autumn prep, highlighted by a courageous and gutsy win in the Coolmore. Trialled up very nicely last week, she’s tough, reliable and a bomb when produced fresh.

Bet Five – Each Way – Race Nine Number 13 Hieroglyphics
Dartboard race the last so I’ll have a throw at this mare, a former Team Cummings galloper having her first run for Stuart Kendrick. This girl does have some pretty good form next to her name when racing in Sydney and she is a bomb when produced fresh.

No trials leading in, but stable can get them right first up. I’ll take a chance at the double figures.
