Match preview:

Fiji are the heavy favourites heading into today’s Test match against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls at Campbelltown. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 4pm AEST.

The Fijian team boasts much more NRL experience, especially in the backs. The likes of captain Kevin Naiqama, Suliasi Vunivalu and Akuila Uate will no doubt pose problems for the Kumuls’ defence. Jarryd Hayne has been named at halfback.

The Kumuls will be led by hooker James Segeyaro and he’ll be joined by other experienced NRL campaigners like Kurt Baptiste and Nene McDonald. Their squad also features plenty of players from the PNG Hunters who won last year’s Queensland Cup.

The forward packs of the two teams look evenly matched. Both will be looking to get on top in the middle to give their backs the opportunity to pile on the points.

Fiji will be looking to build on their efforts from last year’s World Cup, where they upset New Zealand in the quarter-finals before being humbled by Australia in the semi-finals.

The Kumuls were a popular team at last year’s World Cup, beating Wales, Ireland and the United States before bowing out to eventual runners-up England in the quarter-finals.

Prediction
Fiji by 10. It will be a free-flowing game with plenty of attacking flair on display and plenty of tries scored.
