Some pretty solid racing across Australia on Friday, with hopefully a couple of good things at Geelong. Here are my five plays across the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Moruya Race One Number 8 Denesc
I like this girl in the opener. Danny Williams trains this daughter of Denman, who attempted to lead all the way over 1000m on her home track at Goulburn last time and gave a decent enough kick, but tired late when second to Gundy.

The depth here is nowhere near as strong and back to the 920m looks ideal.

Suggested bet: $30 Win at $3.70 (Sportsbet)

Bet Two – Win – Moruya Race Four Number 12 Lady Eleanor
D-Day for this daughter of Americain, but confident she can go close. Four weeks between runs when finishing last at Canterbury on a bog before racing over the mile at Goulburn where she seemed to have her chance after getting the 1/1 when third to Denver.

Third up now, hard fit, no excuses for mine.

Suggested bet: $20 E/W at $8/$2.8 (Sportsbet)

Bet Three – Win – Ipswich Race Three Number 13 Lola’s Diamond
It’s a tricky program at Ipswich, but she looks one of the better plays. Kelly Schweida trains this filly, who ran over 1200m at the Gold Coast last time out where she got a fair way back in the run and was asked to make her move nearer the inside, which probably wasn’t the spot to be, but worked home well all the same behind River Flyer.

Up to 1350m is a tick and Jake Bayliss steers.

Suggested bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Four – Win – Geelong Race Four Number 8 Alshahhad
Fitness is the only thing that will see this colt get beat for mine. He’s the bet of the day, and perhaps the weekend. Son of All Too Hard for the Hayes/Dabernig team that resumes.

He has had two preps, two runs. Debuted at Randwick and tired late behind Legislation. Spelled, resumed at Bendigo and did a bit too much work in the run behind Syd’s Coin. Loved his recent trial win at Pakenham and really, he should win barring bad luck, but doubt he’ll get bad luck with D Oliver on.

Suggested bet: $100 Win at $2.25 (Crownbet)

Bet Five – Win – Geelong Race Five Number 1 Our Luca
Has to translate his Pakenham form to Geelong, but I’ll take the gamble he will. He has one great asset, sustained speed. They’ve tried holding him back to the field, but the last couple of runs, they’ve let him run and it’s been working…over 1000m.

1100m is a different pain barrier, but I don’t think that’ll be too much of an issue.
