The course proper at Morphettville is where Adelaide racing takes place this Saturday while over in WA, the Winter Carnival continues at Belmont with Strickland Stakes Day. Here are my suggested bets across the two programs.

Bet One – Win – Morphettville Race Two Number 6 Vietti
Looks hard to beat in the race for the babies. This daughter of I Am Invincible is on debut for the Tony McEvoy team who has trialled well on a couple of occasions for her first day at the races, the latest seeing her bolt up last week here in good time.

I’d be shocked if she didn’t measure up.

Bet Two – Win – Morphettville Race Four Number 8 Choisborder
Pretty keen on this bloke to continue his winning ways and I’ve been a fan since day one for the Weir camp. Had let the punters down in his first two runs this time in, but rewarded their patience with a commanding performance at Bendigo despite not being entirely happy on the bog.

Now his confidence is up, he can go on with it. One of the better bets in Adelaide.

Bet Three – Win – Morphettville Race Eight Number 1 Artie Dee Two
It’s a very open race, but if he brings his best, he should go close to winning. He’s got some really good form next to his name, the latest coming at the Valley when running a narrow second to the above average Godolphin galloper Eusebio.

Drops a fair bit in depth here and John Allen takes the ride. He’ll do me in the get out.

Bet Four – Win – Belmont Race Two Number 3 Street Fury
The wet track makes things tricky over in the West, but this one looks a standout. Very promising filly for the Pearce team that is first up here after a pretty good Spring/Summer prep, which ended in the Magic Millions behind Epic Grey.

She’s got the form on the board, along with class, and her recent trial, to the eye, was very good.

Bet Five – Win – Belmont Race Five Number 2 Final Salute
Best bet at Belmont for mine. Team Williams train this gelding, who resumed over 1400m here a fortnight back where he had three wide cover throughout and loomed large to win but just couldn’t finish it off when fourth to One Short.

Blinkers on FT could be the final key to get him to win.
