Newcastle sensation Kalyn Ponga has suffered hamstring injury during Saturday’s NRL clash with Canterbury, putting him in doubt for State of Origin III.
The Knights No.1 limped from the field in the 14th minute and will not return after pulling up lame when he was tackled.
Ponga made a stunning Origin debut for Queensland in game two but is now racing the clock take take part in Origin III at Suncorp Stadium in 11 days.
The Knights also lost injury-plagued hooker Slade Griffin to a suspected ACL tear during a disastrous first half.
Griffin has previously suffered three ACL tears and at one point had three years between NRL appearances.
