Some really nice types are stepping out across Australia on Thursday, including a couple of lightly raced gallopers. Here are my suggested bets across the afternoon.

Bet 1: Win – Hawkesbury Race 3, Number 8 Zoom Zoom:
I’m happy to take the $1.85 about this girl because I think against a thin field, she’s around a $1.40-$1.50 chance. Debuts for Les Bridge off the back of a brilliant trial win at Randwick in late May when bolting up in front under a hold. Was down to run last week at the abandoned Kembla Grange meeting where she was well backed in early markets. Should be on speed here and prove too good.

$60 Win at $1.85 (Crownbet)

Bet 2: Win – Hawkesbury Race 6 Number 4 Victory Anthem:
If he shows more interest in the early part of the race, he’ll take some beating here. Was detached from the field when at this track/distance last time but eventually got his mind on the job and worked home strongly nearer the inside, which wasn’t the spot to be. He can lead these if he jumps clean and I think $4.60 is acceptable.

$25 Win at $4.60 (Sportsbet)

Bet 3: Each-way – Grafton Race 7 Number 2 Chillin With Dylan:

Why is this horse nearly double figures? For mine, he should be nearly favourite. He’s the best stayer in this race by a mile and is just about at peak fitness. Couple of efforts at the Toowoomba mile have been quite good, the latest I really liked because he was a beaten horse 200m out, but he didn’t give in. His 2000m+ career outings: fourth in a Rough Habit and Grand Prix, four lengths away in the Queensland Derby and a 2200m spanking at Doomben. I think he’s the bet of the day.

$75 Each-way at $9.5/$3 (Crownbet)

Bet 4: Win – Cranbourne Race 5 Number 3 Rivage:
No prices up at the time of writing this, but anything black figures will do me because he should be winning before going to town and being ultra competitive. His debut win at Ballarat was unbelievable. The turn of foot when asked to sprint by Rawiller was that of a city class horse. He could perhaps be a blacktype class horse. Should be winning here.

$55 Win (tote)

Bet 5: Win – Cranbourne Race 6 Number 7 Sorenata:

Hoping we get a Soft 6/7 because if we get a bog, put a line through her. She ran on a bottomless surface last time over 1700m at Geelong and really struggled to pick her feet up behind Grand Crown. Run prior over 2200m behind Hang Man was solid and up to the 2000m here looks ideal. Happy to have something on each-way.

$15 Each-way (tote)
