Serena Williams is yet to lose a set at Wimbledon, but the size of the challenge will move up a gear when she takes on Kristina Mladenovic in the third round. Join The Roar for live scores from around 12am – midnight (AEST).

The former world No.1, who is battling her way back through the world rankings after spending all of 2017 on the sidelines through the birth of her first child.

Williams has been dominant at Wimbledon so far though after having to withdraw from the French Open at the fourth round before a match against Maria Sharapova thanks to an elbow injury.

Seeded 25 at The Championships under their complex model of working out seeds, Williams has had a pair of easy straight-set victories to start off, not playing any lead-up tournaments between the French Open and Wimbledon.

She first got the better of Arantxa Rus, then hammered Viktoriya Tomova 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.

Mladenovic, on the other hand, played a pair of lead-up tournaments at Birmingham and Eastbourne, but struggled to get going.

The world No.62 lost in the second round of each tournament, but has been better at Wimbledon. Until now, she has received a somewhat favourable draw, but still took three sets to get over her first-round opponent in Anna Schmiedlova.

She finally looked something near her best in the second round when she overcame Tatjana Maria in the second round, but taking on Williams will be a completely different challenge.

Mladenovic will have to get off to a good start and be aggressive throughout the match, using her court movement and positioning to attack the net and try to put Williams under some pressure.

Prediction
Williams should be good enough to get the job done, but there are still question marks hanging over her game. Mladenovic needs a good start if she stands a chance.

Williams in three sets.
