The Brisbane Lions have a chance to score two wins in a row when they host the Carlton Blues. Join The Roar for live scores from the match at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon in Round 16 of the 2018 AFL Season, starting from 1:45pm AEST.

The Lions have hit good form right now – last week they picked up their second win of the season by just about humiliating the Fremantle Dockers at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers have generally been a pretty good side at home this year, but didn’t look like it when the Lions came to visit, going down by 55 points on Sunday night.

Brisbane too have been known for stronger form at home, which made it all the more impressive that they were able to score such a resounding win on the road.

Carlton on the other hand still have only a single win for the year – one they snuck over Essendon a while back. The memory is fading fast.

Carlton find themselves with a 1-13 record at this stage of the season and if they don’t find some more points soon, will be staring down their fifth wooden spoon this millennium.

No other club in the competition has won more than two in the same time.

This match may well be one of the crucial battles in terms of deciding who will come away with the No.1 draft pick at the end of the year.

If Carlton lose it’s pretty much theirs – they’ll be two wins behind both St Kilda and Brisbane with little hope of making up that gap.

But if the Blues’ defense can frustrate the Lions and they score a win, the clubs will be level on two wins each and the race right on.

Expect No.1 pick candidates Jack Lukosius and Sam Walsh to be watching with interest.
