The world No.2 Roger Federer will continue his surge at Wimbledon when he takes on Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round. Join The Roar for live scores from around 1:30am (AEST).

There is still no clear tactic to beat Federer on grass, who has it all in terms of being able to adapt his game and be better at it than whoever he is playing.

Federer’s net game and serve have been dominant so far at Wimbledon, as they both have been all the way across the grass court season. That is of course, with the exception of the one loss he had in the final at Halle against Borna Coric.

Other than that, the world No.2 shooting for a staggering ninth Wimbledon title has been faultless in his build-up and indeed at the All England Club after skipping the entire clay court season.

The Swiss maestro has so far gone past Dusan Lajovic and Lukas Lacko in straight sets, with the intent to continue his run of easy and quick victories, ensuring maximum time for rest after each match, as well as not going too far into the energy reserves when he is on court.

The big-serving Jan-Lennard Struff may well have already played his final on the other hand, having already had two long matches on the courts of Wimbledon.

While his serve may land him a chance of unsettling Federer in the early going, the world No.2 has handled big servers all throughout his career with ease.

The German had a pretty poor lead-in to Wimbledon, losing both of his matches, but has since played two five-set affairs, getting over Leonardo Mayer and Ivo Karlovic.

He beat Mayer comprehensively 6-1 in the final set, but struggled past Karlovic, having to go to 13-11 in the fifth before he finally managed to get a break of serve.

Still, Struff has never won a set against Federer in their two previous meetings and it’s hard to see that changing.

Prediction
Federer is on cruise control. So long as he handles the serve from the outset, he will cruise to victory.
