Kiki Bertens has been in some strong form and will be looking to continue her strongest grand slam effort at Wimbledon when she takes on Julia Goerges in the quarter-finals. Join The Roar for live scores from around 11:30pm (AEST).

Bertens will be under the pump here in what is a battle of some big-serving, powerful players.

She has come away with some big-name wins already throughout Wimbledon. After two more or less straightforward victories during the first two rounds of the tournament, she put Venus Williams to the sword in three sets.

It took an 8-6 final though, with Bertens managing to hold her own against the vastly more experienced Williams.

Bertens backed it up in the fourth round when the Dutchwoman got the better of Karolina Pliskova 6-3, 7-6, again holding her nerve to get the better of a tense tiebreaker, which, had she lost, would have sent her into a third set.

Goerges has also had some impressive wins since Wimbledon got underway, dealing with the draw she was set pretty strongly.

Like Bertens, she took an extended third set to get past her third round opponent, beating Barbora Strycova 7-6, 3-6, 10-8.

She bounced back yesterday though, getting the better of Donna Vekic in an easy straight sets victory which should allow her recovery to be solid ahead of the quarter-finals where she will need every ounce of energy and concentration to get the win.

Prediction
Of the four women’s quarter-finals at this year’s Championships, this is the hardest one to tip by a considerable margin. It could go either way, but with some big-name wins already under the belt, I’m going to take Bertens to get it done in a very close tussle.

Bertens in three sets.
