Queensland had done well to take an 18-12 lead in the second half, after they went into the sheds down 12-8 despite dominating the first 40 minutes.
New South Wales were on the counter and looking odds on to put themselves back over the line, but Holmes’ incredible grab – which would’ve been a contender for catch of the summer in cricket – kept the Blues at bay.
It was actually Holmes’ second interception of the game, with the first try of the game coming courtesy of a 90-metre run by the winger following an interception deep in the Queensland defence.
