Brisbane Lions vs Adelaide Crows: AFL highlights, live scores, blog

The Brisbane Lions will be hoping to extend their winning streak out to four straight matches when they host the Adelaide Crows.

The Brisbane Lions have gone from being a side that had only one win under their belts before the bye to arguably the form team of the competition.

They’ve won their last three matches in a row and at the moment that is the longest active winning streak in the AFL.

Granted, two of those wins have been against sides that no one is particularly impressed by: Fremantle and Carlton.

However last week’s win over Hawthorn in Launceston – Brisbane’s second win over the Hawks for the year – was one that has really put them on the map as a force to be reckoned with.

As for the Adelaide Crows, they’ve had a very challenging season in 2018. In particular, injuries have been a massive problem for them throughout the year.

As a result they find themselves outside the top eight looking in and have a percentage below 100, which is not ideal.

That said, they’ve been in really good form the past few weeks, knocking off West Coast and Geelong at home (but being comprehensively beaten by Richmond at the MCG).

This match will be a good test of how effective they are travelling away from home. They are certainly the more mature and stronger team and would expect to win comfortably.

Achieve that and they could still be a finals chance, but if they drop this one then their season is surely all but over.

Gutsy performance by the Crows - missing two players for the final quarter - showed some ticker against a team in Brisbane that have been a roll in the past month. Its unlikely but they are still a rough chance of making the 8.

Good game and call. I am sure we all await with interest Michael Christian's MRP review of the three dangerous head-high hits on Crows players in the second half. The AFL want Brisbane to do well, but the silence on these reportable incidents in the media is alarming.

That would have to be of the more poorly umpired ganes of the year. A concussion and a broken nose with no free kick were just staggering non decisions A serious review needed of the umpires performance needed.

Crows hold off Lions in an entertaining game. The Adelaide Crows held off a fast finishing Brisbane side by 5 points at the Gabba, Adelaide Crows 13.14.93 d Brisbane Lions 13.10.88 . In what was a highly entertaining game the Adelaide Crows were able to get the 4 points over the in form Brisbane Lions. The Lions lead the game at the first break but that was the last time they would lead at a break. The Crows got the first goal of the game through Bryce Gibbs which was his only goal of the game. The teams then traded goals before the Lions broke out to a 9 point lead before the end of the quarter. A goal with 7 seconds left in the first to Hugh Greenwood cut the lead to 3 at the first break. The 2nd quarter started off with a bang through Greenwood who kicked 2 goals and what was 3 consecutive to give the Crows back the lead, another flurry of goals from the Lions though gave them back the lead at the midway point. Adelaide then broke the shackles and scored 4 goals to 0 and took back the lead in what would be for good. Brisbane started the third quarter well through a Cameron Rayner goal but that would be their one and only goal for the quarter as the Crows continued to pepper their goals, inaccuracy hurt the crows at times but they were doing enough to keep the Lions at bay. The Crows lost Josh Doedee to concussion after a hard hit that was not called a free kick. Another uncalled high tackle saw Lachlan Murphy also leave the ground with potential concussion. The Lions came out into the 4th quarter knowing they had at 2 extra players on the bench and tried their hardest to take the lead, each time they tried though Adelaide either had an answer for it or the Lions committed a costly turnover preventing any real chance. Despite kicking just 1 goal to the Lions 4 in the term the Crows walked away with the win and the much needed 4 points. The Crows now have a home match against the Demons next week while the Lions will face the Bombers in Melbourne. Brisbane Lions 13.10.88 Adelaide Crows 13.14.93 Leading goal kickers H Greenwood (ADL) 4, 6 players with 2, 10 with 1. Leading possessions. M Crouch (ADL) 40, A Witherden (BRI) 31, R Laird (ADL) 29 Thanks for joining me.

McInerney paid a mark just in front of the goal square. Goal Lions. Probably didn't deserve the mark considering it was not called by the closest umpire to the ball. Brisbane Lions 12.9.81 Adelaide Crows 13.13.91 3:17 4th quarter

Some ugly football from both sides right now. Brisbane have had some costly turnovers in their forward 50 though.

Final term has started can the Crows hold on given their injury concerns or will the Lions fresher legs propel them in the final term.

End of the third quarter. Brisbane Lions 9.7.61 Adelaide Crows 12.11.83 Adelaide had another strong quarter as Brisbane struggled to get any meaningful shots on goal in the quarter. Adealide will have some depth issues going into the final quarter as they are at least one man down and another is being looked at under the concussion protocol. Hugh Greenwood has been impressive all game kicking his 4th for the game in that term. Adelaide leading by 22 points.
