Manly narrowly fell at the hands of archrivals Melbourne 14-13 in the Battle of Brookvale last week, their fifth loss in a row at the suburban ground. Their State of Origin trio will have had a full week to recover from two games in the space of five days and be asked to lead the way for the Sea Eagles.
Daly Cherry-Evans went missing when it mattered for the Silvertails against the Storm and must step up and take the onus off of his halves partner Tom Wright.
If he can organise some good lines for his forwards to run through and get Manly some quality ball inside the opposition 20, they may be able to wear out the Roosters through attrition up the middle with their tireless forwards.
The Roosters showed plenty of guts in last week’s victory over the Gold Coast Titans despite some fortunate decisions. They sit in fifth position on the ladder, two points behind the Sharks and would overtake Cronulla on for-and-against with a win.
The tricolours will receive a big boost, with their Origin stars James Tedesco, Latrell Mitchell and Boyd Cordner returning alongside Cooper Cronk, Victor Radley and Mitchell Aubusson.
The return of their forwards will be a huge help as they come up against a Manly engine room that possesses plenty of fire and skill. They will be looking to Cooper Cronk to lay the platform off some strong work through the middle and exploit Manly on the edges.
Their defence has held out so far in 2018, conceding the fewest points of any team, however it will be integral that they wrap the ball up to contain the likes of Martin Taupau and Jake Trbojevic from producing any second phase play from offloads.
The Roosters won the last meeting between the two clubs in narrow circumstances, with a 22-20 victory in Round 9 earlier this year. 131 games have been played between these sides, with the Sea Eagles dominating the fixture with 84 wins. 42 of those have come at Brookvale Oval, with the Roosters taking the points from that venue on just 18 occasions.

The Roosters will continue their run toward the finals with a comfortable win over the Sea Eagles at Brookvale.
