Some really good racing across on Australia, with (hopefully) a good thing on debut at Devonport. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One- Win- Tamworth Race Three Number 9 Mikuro
Tricky program and maiden, but I think this girl is a touch of overs. Kris Lees trains her. Debuted over the 900m scamper at Cessnock where she was on a hot speed throughout and while she was the first under pressure, she didn’t turn it up and stuck on well in defeat.

Would love to see her take a sit off the pace and have last look.

Bet: $20 Win at $5.50 (Crownbet)

Bet Two- Each Way- Pakenham Race Seven Number 5 El Don
On form, looks a race in two between Top Prospect and El Don. There’s a query with Top Prospect and the Synthetic, plus 60kg.

El Don is hard fit, in winning form and loves the Synthetic. Bolted up at this track/distance last time and the time he ran was a beauty. Only goes up half a kilo from that…very likeable.

Bet: $15 Win/$35 Place at $6.5/$2.05 (Crownbet)

Bet Three- Win- Bairnsdale Race Two Number 5 Supergrass
He’s not one of mine, but this really does look his race. Ran over the mile at Echuca just under a fortnight back where he was a little unlucky not to finish closer to Champagne Friday, who had the box seat run and was out on the turn in plenty of time, whereas Supergrass was held up and had no momentum.

Less depth here, hard fit…gets his chance.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)

Bet Four- Win- Gawler Race One Number 1 Tunes
Searaven does look the only threat on paper but his last win came 10 runs ago. Much rather be with Tunes, who has turned to the jumping caper and seems to be really enjoying it.

Bolted up two back over the jumps at Murray Bridge before going to the Grand National Hurdle where he led everywhere bar the last jump when nabbed by Mystic Prince. Should lead these and take beating.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Five- Win- Devonport Race Four Number 2 Prince Of Virtue

If he does everything right, he’s the best bet of the weekend. Mark Ganderton trains with Dan Ganderton to steer. Two official trials for this four year and gee he’s looked impressive, especially the latter.

You’ll see in the latest trial he was dipping and diving, with Ganderton saying he was jumping at shadows only because he was bolting. Plenty of head gear for the debut, so he’s very quirky, but looks very good. Good enough to take care of these.

Bet: $100 Win at $2.50 (Bet365)
