The Carlton Blues will be dreaming of pulling off a major upset when they host the GWS Giants. Join The Roar for live scores from the match in Round 20 of the 2018 AFL Season at Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon, starting from 1:10pm AEST.

Carlton may not have had a particularly good season so far in 2018 – in fact they are dead last and almost certain to claim the wooden spoon – but they will come into this week’s contest in high spirits.

Why? They just took their second win for the season last week, on the road against the Gold Coast Suns, and did so by a comfortable margin.

Once again for them it was superstar Patrick Cripps who led the way, recording 37 disposals, 17 contested possessions, six marks, five clearances, 11 tackles and a goal.

Despite being in a side that has won only two games for the season, he is considered one of this year’s strongest Brownlow Medal contenders.

The GWS Giants however will come into this match knowing they simply cannot allow it to slip up as they look to cement the strongest possible position in the top eight.

They looked like missing finals at one stage but strong form of late has seen them push up, and up, and up – and they’re still a top four chance.

In fact the results of the round so far – particularly Port Adelaide and Collingwood losing – means if they win this one, they’ll jump to third overall.

They would then be only half a win behind the West Coast Eagles (pending the result of the Western Derby later today), and still a chance at a home qualifying final.

Prediction
The Giants are a far better team and odds are the scoreline will reflect that.
