There are solid meetings right across the board on Wednesday, with a couple of chances I’m keen on at Canterbury.

Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Canterbury Race One Number 1 Aramayo
Not the strongest of maidens going around and I think this Godolphin youngster can get the win out of the way. Debuted at Kembla where I thought he was quite good when second to the heavily fancied Navigator, just missing out on picking up the Team Snowden galloper.

Up to 1550m ideal and there is just no depth here. Keen.

Bet: $25 Win (Tote)

Bet Two – Win – Canterbury Race Five Number 10 Mad Fox
He’s always had a bit of a boom on him hence why he is always in the market. I did put the pen through him but he got a reprieve after a pretty good effort at Warwick Farm last time when second to the progressive Island Missile.

Hit the front and looked the winner for a couple of strides but that horse just had the better finale. Looks to get a suck run just off the pace and he’ll do me.

Bet: $20 Win at $5.5 (Crownbet)

Bet Three – Win – Bendigo Race Seven Number 2 Mirimar
I thought he was one of the better bets for the entire afternoon. Former Irish galloper who has had three runs in Australia and has got better with each outing, the latest at Sandown when a narrow third to Monarch Chimes despite being near the inside, which wasn’t the spot to be.

Should be ready fitness wise, Bendigo 2400m ideal, wet track no issue…I think he’s a great bet.

Bet: $100 Win at $3.9 (Crownbet)

Bet Four – Win – Sunshine Coast Race One Number 4 She Excites
For those unaware, don’t be worried if this girl is off the bit before the turn. That’s just the way she races. She’s a real one batter but once she’s fully wound up, she’s a decent enough stayer who should take beating here.

Took an eternity to get going last time at Scone over 2200m but was solid enough in running third. It’s a tricky race, but she looks overs at $4+.

Bet: $25 Win (Tote)

Bet Five – Win – Sunshine Coast Race Four Number 8 Totally Charmed
Was expecting this horse to be odds on so a bit surprised to see $2.80 or thereabouts on offer. Steve O’Dea trains this gelding, who ran over 1200m at Doomben last and closed off really well late when third to Happy Hooves. That form reads very well for a midweek race, hard fit now and Lloyd on from an inside gate…very keen.
