There are four meetings set down across Australia on Friday and hopefully some winners to be had at okay odds.

Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Scone Race Six Number 1 Master Magic Al
I don’t think he’ll start longer than $4.40. Formerly with Liam Birchley, this gelding is 2/2 since joining Luke Hilton, firstly bolting up in a maiden at Port Macquarie before really attacking the line late to win at Taree.

This is the hardest test to date since joining Hilton, but the way the track played earlier in the week, the outside gate looks ideal. Made him the best of the day.

Bet: $70 Win at $4.50 (Neds)

Bet Two – Win – Canberra Race Seven Number 5 Ninky Nonk
The Owen/Olive combo has been dynamic in recent times, especially on the Acton track, and I reckon they can close out the meeting with a couple of winners, starting with this unbeaten gelding, who is 2/2 to start the career with both wins coming at this track.

He isn’t winning by big spaces but what I like is that he fights and digs, which is a great sign for a young horse. Looks to be good speed, I’m hoping Owen can perhaps sit off Athonis/Sheoak to have last say.

Bet: $35 Win at $3.60 (Neds)

Bet Three – Win – Canberra Race Eight Number 6 Enjoy The Stars
Probably more confident in this girl winning over Ninky Nonk. She is definitely a horse on the up and looks extremely well placed. Bolted up over the 1080m here last time, aided by a peach from Owen, who got the suck run behind the speed before popping into clear and putting the race away quite quickly.

1280m is no issue and appears a great bet.

Bet: $45 Win at $2.35 (Neds)

Bet Four – Win – Ipswich Race One Number 5 Clear Sailing
Was hoping the bookies missed the run and I think they have. Absolute horror show last Wednesday over the mile at Ipswich when never clear and pretty much went around like a barrier trial.

If Lloyd can take advantage of the draw and her closer, she’s clearly the horse to beat and I’m more than happy to take the $6-$6.50 on offer.

Bet: $50 Win at $6.50 (Sportsbet)

Bet Five – Win – Geelong Race Five Number 2 All Too Sublime
There’s a couple of nice types here, but not proven on the Synthetic whereas this gelding is. Resumed at the track/distance in a maiden where she pulled a shoe behind the gates, so she spent energy while that was happening, but despite that, he led throughout and bolted in, running similar time to that of the low flying A Good Yarn.

Repeat the dose and he wins, but he’s too short at the moment in fixed betting for mine.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Total spent: $250
