There are five race meetings set down for Tuesday, but my focus is entirely on the program at Gosford. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet 1: Win – Gosford Race 1, number four: Queen Ablaze
Looking at the stats of Angela Davies, gee her numbers are some of the best in Australia. She produces this daughter of Duporth first up and looks to have found a very thin maiden. Looked to have found that when she debuted at Taree back in February but just got a touch too far back when finishing off hard to run second. The form overall has been poor, which is a query heading into this, but her trial win last week looked very good.

Win odds: $2.15 (Crownbet)

Bet 2: Win – Gosford Race 2, number six: Call Me Royal
I wouldn’t be surprised if this girl nearly starts favourite. She’s a talented filly resuming for the Waterhouse/Bott team after a two-run preparation to kick off her career during the Tassie Carnival. She was a good thing beaten on debut before a game second to Mystic Journey, who is one of the better youngsters in Tassie. She trialled well a couple of weeks back at Randwick, and I’m just hoping she isn’t part of a speed battle, because the map says there will be good pressure.

Win odds: $3.80 (Crownbet)

Bet 3: Win – Gosford Race 3, number five: Carano
She’s got that milk-drinker look about her, but if she’s ever going to win a race, this is it. There’s no depth or quality at all to the field and she has finally found some positive form, which came a couple of weeks ago over the Kembla Grange mile, where she finished a solid third to Caribbean Gold. Tye Angland is riding in brilliant form and I’m hoping he can lift this bludger over the line.

Win odds: $3.20 (Sportsbet)

Bet 4: Each-way – Gosford Race 7, number eight: Uncle Sam
I think this gelding can run a race at odds each way. Amelia Denby rode the gelding an absolute treat when winning the maiden at this track and distance last time, beating the hot pot One Invincible Cat by keeping that horse in a pocket while maintaining momentum. He gets every chance from the draw and should be a single figure chance in my opinion.

Each-way bet: Tote

Bet 5: Win (multibet) – Gosford Race 4, number four: Impavido; Gosford Race 6, number one: Spring Charlie
This is the easiest race Impavido has contested in his career and he really should be putting this field away if he’s to head back to Saturday grade and be a potential black-type performer. He should be winning. Buttering him up into Spring Charlie, who was a strong winner at this track first up before being beaten at Warwick Farm as an odds-on pop but had a poor post-race recovery. If he runs to his best, he should win also.

Win odds: $3.22 (Sportsbet)

All odds correct at time of writing.
