There’s some very strong racing across the board on Wednesday, which does makes things a bit tough to sort them out with confidence, but here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Win – Canterbury Race One Number 1 Ranier
I’m near the CEO of the Miss Fabulass fan club. I think she’s a Group l winner in waiting. But if she’s going to get beat, it’ll be here and I think Ranier can beat her.

This colt debuted at Flemington in the Spring when second to Nomothaj with third being Sunlight. Been given near 12 months off and his two trials leading in have been good. Reckon he’ll get run of the race and is the best of the two.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Two – Win – Canterbury Race Five Number 1 Zonk
Yep, I could be mad thinking she’s a good thing, but despite her tag of being a non-winner, she’s racing really well. Ran over 1100m at Warwick Farm last time and tried hard when second to Sweet Scandal who ran well at Rosehill on Saturday.

Why I’m keen is that Rachel Hunt gets on with her, she looks like the leader and there doesn’t seem to be much pressure applied to her.

Bet: $30 Win at $3.5 (Crownbet)

Bet Three – Win – Sandown Race Five Number 9 The Passage
Goes up 4.5kg from last time but he looks the best bet at Sandown. He ran over the Caulfield mile just under three weeks back where he worked home well when second to the in-form Mantastic in a race which does look to be strong on paper.

1800m looks ideal for this bloke and he should just about take care of them.

Bet: $40 Win at $2.7 (Neds)

Bet Four – Each Way – Doomben Race One Number 3 Grand Whisper
These 1600m+ maidens in Queensland are always tough to sort out but I’m confident this bloke can run top two. Jeff Lloyd is on, which has been the case at his past two, the latest at the Sunny Coast when working home well from a mile back.

Racing as if the mile suit and hopefully Lloyd can take advantage of gate one.

Bet: $25 E/W (Tote)

Bet Five – Win – Murray Bridge Race Three Number 6 Lunch Money
Lunch Money is a daughter of Akeed Mofeed for the Richard Jolly team who debuted behind Just Rolling at Gawler and I thought she did a ripping job in defeat. The market didn’t like her, she looked plain in the yard but she sat on speed and showed really good fight, only going down narrowly.

That horse won on Saturday so the form reads well and should be winning here.
