Fresh off a clean sheet from new recruit Joe Hart, Burnley will look to build momentum against Javi Gracia’s men. Join The Roar for live scores of the match from 10:30pm (AEST).
Sean Dyche’s team are coming off a promising season in 2017-18, jumping from 16th in 2016-17 to 7th. In Burnley’s opening match, they were challenged by Southampton, but with their trademark defensive pressure and excellent goalkeeping from the former Manchester City stalwart Hart, they were able to hold them off.
Also, against Watford, Burnley have a favourable record. They have won three out of the last four matches that the two teams have played against each other.
Burnley will also back themselves at their home deck, where they have not lost in their last three attempts.
One of these matches was a draw against the eventual champions Man City, so they should feel confident about their chances against a side who has struggled over the past two seasons.
But Watford are coming off a confidence-boosting win against Brighton on Matchday 1. Roberto Pereyra is in scintillating form, after bagging a brace in that match.
For the first time in a long time, Watford put together a good team performance, with all players showing their potential.
Although they were only playing Brighton, these types of performances where everybody has a moment to shine will start to come out in games against bigger teams in the League.
A win against Burnley at Turf Moor would potentially be a sign of better things to come.
Prediction
As Burnley had a great campaign last year, and are playing at home, they should be too strong for Watford, but do not be surprised if Javi Gracia is the one laughing at the end of it.
