There were two blowouts in Round 22, but thankfully the other seven games had margins no higher than 20 points, with most still in the balance in the last quarter.

The story of the weekend was no doubt Fremantle’s insipid performance against Geelong, with the Dockers being completely annihilated. Will Ross Lyon start to feel the pressure?

The magic moment was remarkably Eddie Betts taking a freakish mark in the final moments of the last game of Round 22. The Saints were unbelievable against the Hawks despite not claiming the four points; even Alastair Clarkson thought that St Kilda deserved to win the game.

Top five coaches of Round 22

  1. Allan Richardson (St Kilda)
  2. Stuart Dew (Gold Coast)
  3. Damien Hardwick (Richmond)
  4. Simon Goodwin (Melbourne)
  5. Chris Scott (Geelong)

Geelong Cats versus Fremantle Dockers
The Cats destroyes the Dockers. Geelong were victorious in a one-sided contest, kicking the last 23 goals of the game in the last three quarters. It’s unfathomable that Ross Lyon didn’t apologise to the Dockers fans after an effort like that. Somehow Fremantle were leading at quarter-time before conceding 23 goals in a row.

Greater Western Sydney Giants versus Sydney Swans
The Swans clinched a crucial comeback win against their cross-town rivals. Sydney had a fantastic fightback against the Giants, with Lance Franklin back to his best with five goals. Luke Parker was prolific.
