There are three race meetings set down for Tuesday. Here are my five plays for what looks like a pretty tough afternoon.

Bet 1: Each-way – Muswellbrook Race 2, number 13: Yulong Jupiter
This is a pretty open race, but I think double figures, and this filly can run well on debut. Gary Portelli trains her. She’s had four career trials to date, with two of those coming this prep. The first came over 900 metres before stepping up to 1030 metres, where she closed off okay. She’s been given a solid enough grounding, and I could have something on each way at the price.

Each-way bet: Tote

Bet 2: Each-way – Muswellbrook Race 4, number 12: Fast Train
This is one horse that is definitely over the odds. Gerald Ryan trains this colt, which debuted at Goulburn, where he just got too far out of his ground, but I liked the way he picked up late when eventually clear to run fourth to Partners. Sweetest Eyes, who ran third, has since won at Kembla, so the form reads well for this.

Win odds: $8.50; place odds: $2.80 (BetEasy)

Bet 3: Win – Albury Race 4, number one: Disturbance
He’s the bet of the day. He’s a former Kiwi who had his first Australian run for the Joseph/Jones team at Moruya, where he got well off the speed and was forced the widest on the turn, but once he balanced up he was a clear black-booker behind a city class horse in Budderoo Knight. With a senior jockey on and 1500-metre wet track, this will be no dramas. If you go through his New Zealand form, he has the names of Redefine and William Wallace, both proven city horses. He’ll just win.

Win odds: $3.40 (Sportsbet)

Bet 4: Win – Pakenham Race 4, number 11: Mrs O’Malley
If she puts it all together, she should prove very hard to beat. She was backed as if unbeatable when debuting over 1100 metres at Geelong on the synthetic turf, but she was uninterested for the most part until the last 150 metres, where she really warmed to the task and hit the line hard to run fourth. An extra 100 metres and a bigger track will certainly help her cause.

Win odds: $6.50; place odds: $2.25 (BetEasy)

Bet 5: Each-way – Pakenham Race 6, number nine: My Aim Is True
She’s a handy mare resuming for the Hayes/Dabernig team. She hasn’t raced since late February at Wodonga, where she ran a solid enough fourth but did look like a tired horse. She’s been given a good break and a recent jump out was encouraging. Her best recent form has come on the synthetic track, and along with the claim for Lewis German, I think she can only run well.

Win odds: $9.50; place odds: $2.80 (BetEasy)

All odds correct at the time of writing.
