The Panthers' psyche is shot to bits

The Panthers are not playing to their ability or talent.

Could this be a backlash to the sacking of Anthony Griffin? I don’t think anyone except Phil Gould was pleased to see him go. Sure he was old school, however the players seemed to respect him.

James Maloney told The Big Sports Breakfast on the day after the sacking he thought ‘Hook’ was a good coach. It would have been good to see a poll of all the squad’s thoughts on the matter.

While the players like and respect Cameron Ciraldo, they are still reeling from the sacking – how else do you explain the dropped balls, missed tackles, careless penalties conceded and the total demise in attitude?

The players are clearly better than what has been delivered.

Jack Gibson once said that when attitude goes out the door, performance soon follows. Success in sport relies on attitude 98 per cent of the time.

What can we expect of the Panthers over the next few weeks? One radical decision might be to sack Gould and re-instate Griffin, which is about as likely as the Eels playing in the finals.

Obviously there will be team changes, however nothing will be different without an attitude adjustment.
