One of the Melbourne Demons and Geelong Cats will find themselves out of the premiership race on Friday night when they battle in the first of the AFL’s elimination finals. This is The Roar’s guide to watching the clash on TV and online.

The first bounce is scheduled for 7:50pm (AEST) on Friday, September 7.

It has been almost 12 years since these two sides last met in the finals and in that time they have experienced contrasting results.

Geelong have established themselves as top achievers having finished in the top-four eight times and won three premierships.

It hasn’t been as easy for the Demons, who have had seven bottom-four finishes and haven’t made an appearance in September footy since 2006.

And Melbourne will be eager to get one back on the Cats on Friday night after they suffered last-minute defeats in both the meetings between the two sides this year.

How to watch on TV

The game will also be broadcasted for Foxtel customers on Fox Footy Channel 504.

They will begin previewing the clash at 7pm and will wrap up their coverage at around 11:30pm.

For those wishing to view the game in high definition, you can do so on channel 258.

Foxtel viewers hoping to watch Seven’s coverage can do so on channels 107 and 207 for standard and high definition respectively.

To watch any of the Foxtel coverage, you will need to be holding a valid Foxtel TV subscription.

All games during the finals series will also be shown on the Seven Network, although the channel that each match is shown on will vary depending on the state that you are in.

Regardless, if the game is not on Channel Seven, it will be broadcasted on their digital back-up channels, 7mate or Seven Two. They can be found on either station 73 or 72, while Channel Seven can be found at 70 in high definition and 71 in standard definition.

Coverage will begin at 7pm (AEST) and wrap up four hours later.
