The allure of a week off and home preliminary final will motivate the Sydney Roosters and Cronulla Sharks as they clash in a qualifying final. This is The Roar‘s guide to live streaming the match online and watching it on TV.

This match will be the second of a Saturday NRL finals double-header, and will kick-off at 7:40pm (AEST) and Allianz Stadium on Saturday, September 8.

The Roosters are one of the favourites for this year’s premiership after securing their fourth first-place finish in six seasons. After several years of disappointment, however, they’ll be keen to make this strong performance stick.

Cronulla captured the hearts of the nation with their drought-breaking victory in 2016, but are definitely keen to add more silverware to their trophy cabinet. They’ll start as outsiders, but are definitely a good chance of lifting the trophy if things go their way.

How to watch the match on TV

There are two ways to watch the qualifying final on TV.

Every match of the NRL (except the grand final) is available live and without adbreaks during play on Fox League (502). Fox League’s coverage will roll on immediately after the conclusion of the preceding Panthers vs Warriors match.

You do, however, need a valid Foxtel TV subscription including the sports package to watch Fox League.

For free-to-air viewers, Channel Nine is the broadcaster for all matches of the NRL finals. Their coverage, like Fox’s, will begin immediately after the Penrith-New Zealand clash.

Check your local listings, as the game may be shown on a variant channel like 9Go or Gem in your area.

How to live stream the match online

People who want to live stream this match instead have a few options available.

Those already with a valid Foxtel subscription can access Fox League’s coverage on the Foxtel App. The Foxtel App is included with any Foxtel TV package, and allows you to stream channels you’re already subscribed to.

Foxtel Now is another streaming option. While it requires its own subscription, Foxtel Now doesn’t require the hassle of having a pay TV service physically installed in your house.

Nine’s coverage of the match will also be broadcast on their free streaming service, 9Now.

Finally, you can stream the match with an NRL Digital Pass. A subscription for this service can be purchased on the NRL website but, if you’re a Telstra mobile customer, you may be eligible to receive a live pass for free.

The Roar will, of course, be covering the match live with a blog and highlights.
