There is some really good racing set down for Wednesday with a couple of promising types engaged. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet one: Win – Canterbury Race Three – number four, Happy Bubbles
This a strong program in Sydney but I am very keen to see how this horse goes.

Gerald Ryan trains this three-year-old. He debuted over 900m at Newcastle where he held up early on in the straight when bolting.

However, once he got clear, he exploded and won most impressively. This horse gets the run of the race from the draw and should take a beating.

Bet: $30 Win at $3.5 (BetEasy)

Bet two: Win – Bendigo Race Three – number four, Yulong Meteor
The synthetic form is hard to trust when it comes to the turf but I think we can trust this filly.

This horse trialled well prior to resuming on the Pakenham Synthetic where she sat last in the small field before peeling wide and finishing off in such dominant fashion under minimal riding.

Looks a real Oaks type, so up to the mile looks ideal.

Bet: $30 Win at $4.5 (Sportsbet)

Bet three: Each way – Bendigo Race Six – number three, Azuro
I can’t believe he’s $20+.

He ran over 2000m at Cranbourne last time.

He got back in the run before peeling wide on the turn where the eventual winner – and stablemate Haripour – saved ground inside him while dashing on the turn.

I don’t think that sort of brilliance works here – and up to 2400m is a big tick for him.

Bet: $10 Win/$20 Place at $19/$5.5 (BetEasy)

Bet four: Quaddie – Sunshine Coast Quaddie
I am more than confident about this one.

I think we can get the first leg out of the way nice and early via Willo Titto who should win. Speed looks strong in Race Five so I’m including four runners who should get a nice sit off that and launch late.

The Zoff looks hard to beat in race six while in the last I’m going wide and cheering for Cavalli.

Bet: $50 10/3-6-7-10/3-4-5-11/2-3-4-5-6

Bet five: Each way – Balaklava, Race Eight, number ten, Silent Warrior
I’m hoping the tempo is solid enough for this bloke to get his chance to run on.

He is two runs back from a break at the WFA in the Spring Stakes and Penny Edition where he has run really well without winning. Onto the bigger track and back to a handicap, I think he can only run well.

Bet: $10 E/W (Tote)

Total spend: $160
