Four meetings will be run and won on Thursday, hopefully with winners to be had. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.
Bet One- Win- Grafton Race Two Number 2 Longtga
Tricky card at Grafton but I think he’s the pick of them. Heavily backed when resuming at the track/distance and to my eye I thought he had his chance but was just no match for impressive winner Vacate.
Ben Looker jumps on and he rides Grafton better than most. Dry track at Grafton means being on speed is the A1 spot, and that is where he’ll be.

Bet Two- Win- Grafton Race Five Number 2 Mother To Race Her
Little query at the trip, but ability wise, she’s the one. Ran on Murwillumbah Cup Day last time where she attempted to lead all the way and for the most part looked home but stablemate Vivid Pink kept surging under hard riding and eventually got her on the peg.
Was 1400-1350 that day so up to 1700m should be a positive and Gallagher has plenty of options from the draw.

Bet Three- Each Way- Mornington Race Six Number 8 Osmium
I think he’s the best horse in the race. Hopefully he can produce it. Resumed over 1400m at Sandown and to the eye, was a flop behind La Chambie, with Fighting Harada being unlucky, but the horse did have heart problems post race.
His two runs in the Autumn were very good and if he’s anywhere near that kind of form here, he’ll be winning.

Bet Four- Win- Rockhampton Race Two Number 2 The Tax Accountant
There is the query of a second up flat spot after a brilliant resumption, but I can’t get away from that first up win.
Trialled enormous, backed as if he was unbeatable and won accordingly, leading all the way and absolutely bolting in. Can he repeat the dose is the question, because there is a bit of depth here? But happy to be with him.

Bet Five- Win- Rockhampton Race Four Number 1 Malkara
Confident this bloke goes close. He was a few weeks between runs when racing over 1300m at Mackay where he just got a fraction too far back off a slow tempo but I liked the way he closed off behind an in form horse in Warwick Avenue.
Fitter and on the bigger track looks ideal, plus senior jock on. Back to 1200m the niggle but I’ll go his way.
