Queensland racing metro this Saturday returns to the Sunshine Coast for a nine-race card while a couple of blacktype events highlights racing at Morphettville. Here are my five plays across the two meetings.

Bet One – Win – Sunshine Coast Race Three Number 7 Mogador
There are a couple of shorties up north I think are unders, starting in this race with From Within and I’m siding with Mogador. Former Godolphin sprinter who had three runs for the Heinrich/Rogers team last prep before being tipped out, the best effort being last start when a narrow second.

He has had a full prep now in Queensland and I thought his trial last Tuesday was very good.

Bet Two – Each Way – Sunshine Coast Race Five Number 2 Hi I’m Back
Dal Cielo can win but I can’t back him at the odds on quote. Hi I’m Back is the each way gamble. He is an absolute bomb when produced fresh, winning one and placing in a further five from seven career first-up attempts.

He is lethal on firm ground too, so he gets conditions to suit and he looks wound up to run well with two solid trial wins under the belt.

Bet Three – Win – Morphettville Race Three Number 8 Circuleight
One of the better bets on the card. She is the daughter of Sebring who was confidently supported when racing over 1800m at Casterton where she got well off the pace in a truly run affair and despite taking a little while to wind up, loved the way she closed off to win.

The 2000m will be no issue and always have to respect the stable. I’m surprised she can drift.

Bet Four – Each Way – Morphettville Race Four Number 8 Columbia
Great each way play for mine. Formerly with the Maher/Eustance stable but is now with Will Clarken, and once again, I’ll say that this bloke is one of the best at improving tried horses.

He looks a happy horse if the trial is any guide. I loved the way he closed off under no pressure behind a Group l performer in Mica Lil. If he’s right, I think he wins. Can’t touch Domination at near odds-on.

Bet Five – Win – Morphettville Race Five Number 4 Moghul Empire
I won’t be surprised if he was backed with confidence. He’s an absolute beauty for the Will Clarken team who could easily measure up in Melbourne during the Spring if placed right.

Really tough resumption when winning on the course proper before racing over 1400m on the Parks track where he tried hard but just failed to hold off the above average Tan Tat Trusting. Third up, he should be ready fitness wise.
