There are three meetings on the cards for this Tuesday, with night racing returning to Launceston. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet 1: Each-way – Grafton Race 1, number six: Indian Rocks
The rain-affected track is the negative, but at these odds I’ll have something on each-way. This gelding took a little while to break the maiden status, but it came on Murwillumbah Cup Day, where he led all the way. I reckon he beat a good one in Hayburner, and here he’s only got 52 kilograms on his back and is the sole speed.

Bet: $10 each-way at $7.00 to win, $3 to place (BetEasy)

Bet 2: Win – Grafton Race 2, number ten: Sleepy Heart
I’m pretty keen on this Matty Dunn-trained filly. She debuted on 18 August at Ipswich, where she had the suck run behind the speed and didn’t appear 100 per cent happy around the circuit but stuck on well in defeat in a race that has produced a couple of subsequent winners. If they can run on here, she’s the pony to bet on.

Bet: $30 win at $4.50 (Sportsbet)

Bet 3: Each-way – Grafton Race 6, number five: Ask The Price
I’m happy to have a peanut each way on this bloke. He ran over 1700 metres here last time and I thought his effort was solid enough. He just found them a tad sharp, I thought, but he didn’t turn it up at all in a solid enough effort. He has a really good record at 2400 metres-plus, and he gets out to this trip for the first time since joining Donna Stoddart.

Bet: $10 each-way at $19 to win, $5.50 to place (Sportsbet)

Bet 4: Win – Mildura Race 1, number 8: Interram
She looks like the winner, but $1.40? Turn it up. She has to start longer, surely. She’s the daughter of Snitzel, and she produced quite an encouraging debut over 1100 metres at Kilmore when warming to the task late behind stablemate Vegapine, who failed with excuses at Ballarat on Sunday. Mr Quickie is the obvious threat, but Interram should win with natural progression.

Bet: $50 win (Tote)

Bet 5: Win – Mildura Race 3, number nine: Ocean Essence
I think Ocean Essence should be a clear favourite. This colt was very good on debut at Warracknabeal when second to seemingly a nice type in Marx Brother. Out to 1300 metres on the bigger track looks ideal, and really I can’t work out why he’s the equal favourite with The Old Bird. I have Ocean Essence marked near odds-on.

Bet: $80 win at $2.60 (BetEasy)
