The team line up for the Predator PUBG OCE Open series has been decided, with the last qualifying rounds held over the weekend. This means 18 teams have risen to the top after weeks of intense matchups.

One team worth looking out for is Justice Esports. They may not be the strongest, but they have arguably fought the hardest for their position in the finals.

Unlike most teams, Justice have had to face off in all four of the closed qualifying matches to earn their spot. They took out second place in this week’s rounds without even winning a match – if you’re looking for a dark horse, then Justice Esports may well be your answer.

The other teams to add to the list are JAM Gaming (who took out the top spot) and Trident Esports, both having fought hard in three out of four closed qualifiers, as well as Team 404, who secured their place in only one go.

Overall victors JAM claimed the number one position by wracking up an impressive 39 kills over their five games, 12 of which went to newcomer Spaggy. Picking up this new player really made the difference for JAM, with Spaggy not only adding to that impressive body count (one of which was from 347 meters away), but also inflicting a ton of damage.

Teammate Yaszu also really stepped up, taking out Shattered Facade after bewildering what was left of the team by spraying down a vehicle, then eliminating them.

Fortunately, this wasn’t the end for Shattered Facade, as they benefited from their excessive kill counts, while Extricity also made it through on wildcard entries.

This means while they didn’t place high enough on points to get into the finals, their ability to take out individuals from the other teams pushed them over the line.

While they may not possess the strategy to pool points effectively, Shattered Facade and Extricity have shown a high level of technical skill and bloodthirst to get here. This means they’ll be stealing plenty of points from other teams, as well as eliminating players, regardless of how well they end up positioning.

Whether it’s a ballsy show of power and they also have the chops to take out wins remains to be seen.

PUBG is often a bit of a waiting game, with a large map seeing players cropping up from anywhere. From a competitor perspective, this often means finding the best, least predictable spot to camp out and wait for your opponent, and Shattered Facade’s Mad_Panda demonstrated this beautifully by posing himself on the supports for the bridge to Military Island.

The teams featuring in the finals are NoInVites (formerly Grayhound Gaming), Team Immunity, SYF Gaming, Raging Knight, ORDER, Avant Gaming Archaic, Chiefs ESC, New Genesis, Kanga ESports, Vizard, Paradox, JAM Gaming, Justice Esports, Trident Esports, Team 404, and of course the wildcards, Shattered Facade and Extricity.

The grand final will take place on Saturday, October 13, where the best in the oceanic region will compete in a series of seven games for their share in a $15,000 prize pool.

First place will walk away with $6000, while the rate for second place drops to $3000. Earnings continue to drop until seventh and eighth place, who will both walk away with $300 each for their time, so there’s a big push to try to get one of those top spots – not only for bragging rights but also for the financial reward.

Individual players are also competing for their chance to get noticed and show their skills. While Throwdown’s Predator OCE tournament may not be the biggest fish, it’s a great start for those looking to graduate to the PUBG Global Invitational or even the Broadcaster Royale OMEN Challenge, which has a prize pool of $USD300,000, and is scheduled to start on October 26.
