Solid programs have been assembled for Thursday, with some nice horses stepping out at Gosford. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One: Each Way – Gosford Race Two, Number 2 – Bouddi
Campari looks the obvious, but this bloke looks a touch of overs at $5.5. Bjorn Baker is the first starter who has gate one and J Collett steering off the back of a couple of impressive efforts at the trials, the latest seeing him bolt up. For mine it’s a race in two so I think he’ll either win or run second from the inside gate.

Bet: $20 E/W at $5.5/$2.35 (Sportsbet)

Bet Two: Win Multi – Gosford Race Three, Number 8 Mark Two/Race Five Number 3 – The Tenor
Both are short but they should be winning. Mark Two is a quality mare for Stephen Marsh who makes her Australian debut.

Ran well in the NZ Oaks in the Autumn and looks well placed at the mile fresh. Should win. The Tenor is a very promising galloper, another one, for Kris Lees. Should be unbeaten but had not much luck at Randwick last time. Two trials leading in have been good and barring bad luck, he’ll win.

Bet: $50 (Tote)

Bet Three: Win – Wangaratta Race One, Number 8 – Chapada
Looks an ideal maiden for this Mike Morney gelding. Month between runs since contesting a Geelong maiden where he had a reasonable run near the speed and stuck on quite well in defeat behind Dubai Tycoon, a race which has produced three subsequent winners.

This looks a considerable drop in depth and should take beating.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Four: Win – Wangaratta Race Four, Number 13 – Farthing Wood
Looks a great bet. Darren Weir trains this filly, who ran over 1300m last time on the Geelong Synthetic and stuck to the task pretty well in defeat I thought when beaten narrowly by Diamond Beauty.

Has the solid 1300m run under the belt so should be cherry ripe here third up and looks to get an ideal sit off the pace.

Bet: $50 Win (Tote)

Bet Five: Win – Townsville Race One, Number 7 – Craiglea Ella
Think she’s the good thing of the day. Was 1200-1050 last time at Mackay where she sat off the pace and finished off strongly to run second to Gypsy Toff, who is one of the best three year olds in North Queensland.

Back up to 1200m and the depth is nowhere near as strong here. Gee she should pretty much put these away.

Bet: $100 Win (Tote)
