There’s some decent racing set down for Tuesday, when I’m really keen on one at Kyneton. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet 1: Each-way – Ipswich Race 8, number seven: Sweet Adaline
I don’t think you can go wrong backing Sweet Adaline each way, provided of course we get an each-way price. She’s been a very consistent mare for Team Guy for a while now and continued that last time over the mile when closing off to run third to the in-form Galtero. She has a good record at Ippy and should have room for improvement.

Bet: $25 each-way (Tote)

Bet 2: Win – Newcastle Race 1, number three: Shadow Bridge
I like him but, gee, $2.90 is short enough. I’d be surprised if he starts any shorter. Mark Newnham trains this bloke, who returns as a gelding after debuting over 900 metres here back in May when down the track. He’s been gelded and has looked pretty good to the eye in a couple of trials. He should land on speed and prove hard to run down, but he’s too short at the moment.

Bet: $40 win (Tote)

Bet 3: Win – Newcastle Race 4, number three: Tippler
I think the gap in the market between it and Galway Girl is too great in my opinion. Kris Lees trains this daughter of Pierro, who has finished third at her two career outings, the latest at Scone when working home strongly after being left flat-footed on the turn. Blinkers on first time and Brenton Avdulla steering, happy to be with her on her home track.

Bet: $60 win at $4.50 (Sportsbet)

Bet 4: Each-way – Kyneton Race 2, number 14: Paris Showgirl
Henry Dwyer trains this filly and I think she’s worth an each-way ticket. It’s been a month between runs, and when racing over the Ballarat mile last time she got well back in the run and never really looked likely but was solid enough late when fifth to Nessuna Fiducia. She should only improve and I like her up in trip.

Bet: $25 each-way (Tote)

Bet 5: Win – Kyneton Race 7, number nine: Pollinator
I think she’s the bet of the day at this price. Darren Weir has this mare going really well, but I think an even bigger key is Dean Yendall, who’s had three rides for two wins and a placing. He last start was over 2460 metres at Geelong and she absolutely lapped up the trip, winning by a space. Key to her is clear air so she can wind up. That should eventuate here, and she’ll prove very hard to run down.

Bet: $100 win at $3.30 (Sportsbet)
