Three meetings are set for Monday, but I think there are a few winners to be found. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet one: Win – Corowa Race One – number one – Veedouble
This horse should land on speed and be hard to beat.

He was heavily backed when racing over the Wagga mile last time but went too hard in front and was swamped late. The blinkers are and Corowa is a track where the speed and rail is the perfect spot to be.

Bet: $40 Win (Tote)

Bet two: Win – Corowa Race Four – number five – Lawton Joseph
I think he’s a touch of overs at $6.

Andrew Dale trains this galloper, who looked a touch flat two back at Albury and then went to a non-tab at Wodonga only to run a game second to a beauty in Ruary Mac.

That form reads well and with a stack of speed engaged, I can see Heywood getting the suck run on the fence and poking his way through.

Bet: $20 Win at $5.5 (Sportsbet)

Bet three: Win – Corowa Race Five – number four – The Consigliere
He is the best of the day but the market will tell you if he’s ready.

At $3.40 at the time of writing, he could crunch into $2.50 or blow to $5 or more, but I’ll take the $3.40 and hope. Mitch Beer has this horse and he was given a searching trial at Albury.

Ridden right out but bolted in and ran decent enough time. Nevada Dane looks the threat so I’ll save on him.

Bet: $40 Win at $3.4 (Bet365), $20 Win Nevada Dame at $6.5 (BetEasy)

Bet four: Win – Ballina Race Four – number 18 – Windermere
She’ll be winning if she matches her trials.

Toby Edmonds trains this resuming filly, who debuted at Murwillumbah in May and was dreadful behind Amorita, but that race did produce three winners.

Her two trials leading in have been good and she gets gate one while Ryan Maloney steers.

Bet: $30 Win at $5 (Sportsbet)

Bet five: Win – Ballina Race Seven – number three – Gripped
I think the wet track and weight pull beat him in his prior race.

French Command is a swimmer and was on the quick back up with a 5.5kg weight pull.

Now back on top of the ground and up to 1400m, he should get every chance from the ideal barrier.

Bet: $30 Win at $3.5 (BetEasy)

Total Spend: $200
