Some strong racing right across the board on Thursday to support Oaks Day at Flemington. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One- Win- Hawkesbury Race Three Number 10 Proven Class
Really keen on this filly. Surprised there is near $3 on offer for her. Green on debut at Warwick Farm, but very good late off a moderate tempo in what looked a decent midweek city maiden.

Hoping for something similar to stablemate Scarlet Dream, who was very sharp on Tuesday at Kembla, naturally progressing from start one to start two.

Bet: $50 Win at $3.1 (Sportsbet)

Bet Two- Win- Hawkesbury Race Six Number 7 Beware
James Cummings trained galloper who looked big in condition first up at Warwick Farm and ran accordingly off a hot speed, just lacking a decent finale. Form has been franked via Ellie’s Encore and he should come right on from the resumption. Just want a market push and then I’ll dive into him.

Bet: $30 Win at $4.6 (Sportsbet)

Bet Three- Win – Hawkesbury Race Seven Number 6 Pecans
Pecans is a daughter of Skilled resuming for Joe Pride. This mare has really come of age in the last 12 months, being a benchmark horse at one stage to now resuming as a multiple Stakes winner.

Had three runs last time in, winning the Godolphin Crown fresh before a close up effort at Randwick then failing in the Dane Ripper. Loves a track with give in it and has looked sharp in a couple of trials.

Bet: $30 Win at $4.8 (Sportsbet)

Bet Four- Win- Warrnambool Race One Number 3 Don’t Wait
He’s got the raced brigade covered. Just depends on the ability of the first starters. Was very green when debuting at Stawell but I really liked the way he balanced up and attacked the line when third to Misscha.

Extra 100m and bigger track certainly helps his cause and I think this race looks a bit weaker.

Bet: $30 Win at $3.4 (Bet365)

Bet Five- Win- Gawler Race Five Number 2 I Have Arrived
I Have Arrived looks a near good thing provided they can run on from the back at Gawler. His run over the 1950m on the Parks track was full of merit, closing off against the bias when fourth to Daktari. Can sit much closer from gate one and the 2100m on the bigger track looks ideal.

Bet: $50 Win at $2 (Neds)
