Some decent racing across the board on Friday, where Kempsey Cup Day is the feature meeting. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One- Win- Kempsey Race Three Number 4 Exdream
Expecting this gelding to be quite popular. Kris Lees trains the son of Dream Ahead, who has trialled a couple of times this prep, the latest when fourth to McCormack, who got the job done at Hawkesbury on Thursday, so the form reads well, depth here isn’t as strong, has gate one and always have to respect the Lees/Gibbons combo, especially when carrying the Australian Bloodstock colours.

Bet: $50 Win at $2 (BetEasy)

Bet Two- Each Way- Kempsey Race Seven Number 1 Zip A Dee Doo Dah
If there’s no second up syndrome, I think he can only run well. Former Singapore galloper who made his Australian debut at Taree over 1250m where he was one of the runs of the day.

The track pattern that afternoon was suited for those near the speed, but he produced an outstanding finish to run a close up fourth. Extra 200m is ideal. Hoping he handles the track.

Bet: $20 Win/$30 Place at $6.5/$2.2 (Sportsbet)

Bet Three- Win – Rockhampton Race One Number 3 Whitty Girl
I think she’s the way to go in the fillies race. Lyle Rowe produced some really nice types at the October 29 trials at Rocky, and I think this was one of the better performances of the morning.

Really liked the way she knuckled down late to take good ground off the all the way winner. Les Tilley on, just has to overcome a somewhat tricky gate.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)

Bet Four- Win- Rockhampton Race Two Number 6 The Stockbroker
Originally liked Master Jamie, but watching the trial, I think The Stockbroker could well be the better colt.

These two trialled on October 29 here and Master Jamie did win the trial but was under pressure in the straight while the other horse was under a good hold and Justin Stanley does ride remain on. I think they’re the two, so back both and you can’t go wrong.

Bet: $30 Win The Stockbroker (Tote), $20 Win Master Jamie (Tote)

Bet Five- Win- Rockhampton Race Three Number 2 Deus
Bob White trains this gelding and he seems to have this horse going really well. Ran over 1200m at Mackay three weeks ago where he looked in a bit of trouble but once Day shoved him into the clear, he attacked the line and was most impressive in winning, getting the bob on the peg.

Fast run 1050m would be ideal and I’m hoping they go quick so he gets his chance to run on.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)
