Thursday racing in Australia is highlighted by racing returning to Seymour, and hopefully the track will hold up. Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One- Win- Port Macquarie Race One Number 10 Magnolia Power
Could be a very fat day for Kris Lees, starting off in the first. This girl resumed over 1000m at Hawkesbury and stuck on well after doing work in the run behind Evict.

Significant drop in depth for this filly and from gate one, she should get every chance. Think anything at $2+ is more than acceptable for her.

Bet: $50 Win at $2.2 (Sportsbet)

Bet Two- Win- Port Macquarie Race Two Number 5 Wild Sheila
Like this filly. Kris Lees trains this daughter of Animal Kingdom, who debuted at Tamworth and didn’t have the best of luck in the straight when having something to offer when fourth to stablemate Power Of Wexford.

Up to 1500m and back in depth, plus with the claim for Louise Day, I think she’s well placed here.

Bet: $20 Win at $5 (BetEasy)

Bet Three- Win – Port Macquarie Race Six Number 4 Angel Of Heaven
Not easy to go from a maiden to a class race and win. I think she’ll be an exception because she looks well above average and she’s facing not much here.

Heavily backed when debuting at Scone and the punters got it spot on as she savaged the line late to grab the win on the line. Bred to be a good one and up to 1500m a big tick.

Bet: $60 Win at $1.75 (Neds)

Bet Four- Win- Port Macquarie Race Seven Number 7 Penfold
Fat day I think for Kris Lees but this girl is the best on the program and Allan Kehoe trains. Has had a couple of 1300m runs in recent times and she has run well.

Just hasn’t quite seen it out, the latest at Moree when nabbed on the peg by Johnny Be Quick, who has been a city performer in Brisbane. Back to 1200m on a track she has run well at, she certainly appeals.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)

Bet Five- Each Way- Seymour Race Seven Number 3 Duke Of Oz
At the time of writing this, the odds for the meeting weren’t up but I’m hoping we can get an each way price. I think he’s the gamble of the day.

Looks to be going well for Jamie Edwards, who was good two back at 2000m before stepping back to 1950m at Yarra Valley where the tight track and back in trip were the negatives but he was very good.

Back on a bigger track, and with the wide gate he’ll get clear air. Really keen on his chances.

Bet: $50 E/W (Tote)

Total Spend: $260
