Several meetings have been assembled for Wednesday, where I think there is a moral at Echuca in the shape of a future city/blacktype performer.

Here are my five plays for the afternoon.

Bet One – Each Way – Warwick Farm Race One Number 2 Shantou
The Art Of The Bar is far too short for mine so I’ll go each way with this girl. She resumed in what looked a strong midweek race at Hawkesbury and I didn’t mind the way she finished off when third to the progressive Skyray, who failed with excuses at Rosehill.

$10 her vs $1.50-$1.60 for the WaterBott filly. The favourite can win, but too short and the bet is the Baker runner.

Bet: $15 E/W at $10/$3.8 (BetEasy)

Bet Two – Each Way – Warwick Farm Race Three Number 10 Helga
I think you can do worse than back this girl each way. She comes through a very strong maiden I think at Randwick where she was back near last and forced to come wide on a track which really doesn’t allow you to blouse them beyond the middle.

Still, her run was very good, looming to run third behind a couple of smart Waller runners but her condition just gave way late. Gets in really well after the claim and this race looks a touch weaker for mine.

Bet: $15 E/W $12/$3.4 (Sportsbet)

Bet Three – Win – Warwick Farm Race Seven Number 5 Poetic Charmer
Poetic Charmer is a Team Snowden trained four year old who bounced back to winning form under the Canterbury lights a couple of Friday nights back when leading all the way under a lovely front-running steer from Tommy Berry.

He was bred to be a handy one and now he has the win under the belt, he could well go on with it.

Bet: $30 Win (Tote)

Bet Four – Win – Sandown Race Six Number 10 Chapal
Got it a race in two between it and Ruomaza, but I think this bloke for Tony McEvoy has more upside. Ran over the 2400m on the Lakeside course a couple of weeks back and was very good in defeat behind Californiagrandcru after sitting back and wide.

He can sit much closer in the run from gate one and will only be fourth up, so he should have room to improve.

Bet: $90 Win at $4.8 (BetEasy)

Bet Five – Win – Echuca Race Eight Number 4 Gina’s Hope
Anything Over $1.10 is overs for mine. She’s just got these covered. She had a stunning first-up win at Kyneton where she got into all sorts of trouble but once clear, gee she showed an electric turn of foot and won with such ease. Was nominated for Sandown but the stable are electing to take her through the grades and have found a thin 58. Barring bad luck, she’ll win.
